I opened a letter from Citibank on Monday to read that they are boosting the interest rate on my Citibank Mastercard from 6.7 percent to 14.99 percent! I phoned Citibank to remind them that I have excellent credit, I've never missed a payment and there has never been a problem with my account. Since election day, I've received no less than 800 emails and have been approached by a great many people, all of them wondering: "How are you handling this?" and "Are you okay, Jim?" One of them referred to me as "the staunchest Republican." That caught me off-guard and was a bit amusing as well - seeing how I strongly believe the fringe element of the so-called "religious right" is a liability to the Party, and that I voted yes on the "Death with Dignity" ballot proposition - bringing on scorn from some fellow Republicans.

So ... I'm finally ready to talk about the election of Barak Obama and what this staunch Republican thinks of it ...

Meet the crew of sign wavers who stand out on the corner of Bethel and Tremont in Port Orchard until nightfall, seven days a week. They are (from left to right): Sue, John, Adam, and Jim. We have plenty of signs and we invite you to stand with us! Oftentimes, we duck on over to Puerto Vallarta for a beer when we're done, and we always have a great time. In fact, this has become the highlight of my day, and I hope to see you join us for an hour or two some night after work.
